In 1955, Calvin & Betty Petty and Vern Strack co-founded Petty Strack Shower Door Company. Both Mr. Petty and Mr. Strack were tile setters in the Kansas City area and saw a need for a local shower door company. Their original location was in Merriam, Kansas, on Merriam Drive. They soon outgrew that location and moved the business around the corner to Merriam and Johnson Drive. In 1968, Vern Strack retired and Calvin & Betty Petty moved the business to Olathe, Kansas, changing the name to Petty Products, Inc.
