Eco-Friendly Recycled Glass Countertops in Chicago
Founded in 2005, Gilasi has dedicated itself to creating environmentally sustainable surfaces that redefine industry standards. Our recycled glass countertops contain 77-85% post-consumer and post-industrial recycled content by weight, significantly reducing the demand for virgin materials while diverting waste from landfills. We pioneered a manufacturing process that eliminates volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and crystalline silica, ensuring safer environments for both homeowners and fabricators. With applications spanning residential kitchens and bathrooms to commercial spaces like offices and hospitality venues, our products combine durability with aesthetic versatility.

Our commitment to transparency is demonstrated through our Material Take Back Program, which guarantees responsible end-of-life recycling for our surfaces. As a U.S.-based manufacturer, we maintain rigorous quality control while enabling customization through color palettes, textures, and branding solutions for commercial clients. Our technical specifications meet industry requirements for commercial projects, and our fabrication process requires no specialized equipment, making sustainable design accessible to all. This combination of environmental stewardship, technical innovation, and design flexibility positions Gilasi as a leader in the green building materials sector.

Services
Recycled Glass Countertops
Our recycled glass countertops combine environmental responsibility with modern aesthetics. Made from 77-85% post-consumer and post-industrial glass waste, these durable surfaces offer commercial-grade performance while reducing landfill contributions. The VOC-free manufacturing process eliminates harmful emissions, and the absence of crystalline silica ensures safer handling during fabrication. Available in residential and commercial applications, these countertops provide long-lasting beauty with minimal environmental impact.
Custom Color Options
We offer extensive customization through unique color palettes and textures. Our formulation process allows precise control over glass particle size and resin coloration, enabling tailored solutions for both residential and commercial projects. Homeowners can create personalized kitchen and bathroom designs, while businesses can incorporate branded color schemes into office spaces, hospitality venues, and retail environments. This flexibility maintains structural integrity while achieving distinctive visual outcomes.
Commercial Applications
Our surfaces provide durable, low-maintenance solutions for commercial environments. Engineered to withstand high-traffic areas, these countertops suit office reception desks, restaurant service counters, and hospitality venues. The customization capabilities support brand integration through specific color matching, while technical specifications meet commercial building code requirements. The material's non-porous nature and resistance to staining make it ideal for food service areas and healthcare facilities requiring strict hygiene standards.
Residential Installations
We create premium kitchen and bathroom countertops that combine sustainability with modern design. The material's thermal shock resistance handles temperature changes from hot cookware, while its non-porous surface resists staining from household substances. Available in multiple finishes, homeowners can choose from contemporary glass aggregates or more traditional patterns. The surfaces require no sealing and maintain their appearance with simple soap-and-water cleaning, offering practicality alongside environmental benefits.
Eco-Friendly Materials
Our manufacturing process prioritizes environmental responsibility at every stage. The material contains no toxic binders or harmful particulates, creating safer environments for both end-users and fabricators. Our Material Take Back Program ensures end-of-life recycling, closing the product lifecycle loop. Third-party verified environmental product declarations confirm our low carbon footprint, while compliance with LEED v4.1 criteria supports green building certification efforts for both residential and commercial projects.

The floor in our sunroom is as green (environmentally speaking) as it is gorgeous! It looks nicer than most kitchen countertops because it is basically the same material but we had it cut into tiles for our floor. The recycled glass contains oven door glass and earthy tones with a few specks of blues and reds that are little surprises for your eyes. Everyone that walks in our front door comments on how beautiful and unique it is, and are "floored" to learn that they were manufactured only a few miles from our home on Chicago's north side. Local, green, unique and beautiful!
