It all started in Eric Almquist's garage over thirty years ago. Eric would go to the big city to buy hardwoods for the local woodworkers who were looking for better stuff than they could find in town. After a couple of years he moved the business out of his garage and into the little town of Blue Lake, California, and stayed there for over twenty years.

Almquist Lumber stocks a wide variety of lumber, plywood, specialty panel products, mouldings, siding, decking, tools, hardware, and other woodworking supplies. We can special order many things we don't stock. We can custom mill lumber to your specifications, and fabricate wood countertops and stair treads. We offer other miscellaneous products including books, firewood, shelving, drawer sides, wood veneer, and live edge wood slabs.

Almquist Lumber stocks over 100 species of hardwood lumber. We offer domestic species from across the US and Canada, as well as exotic tropical hardwoods from around the world. We also have local west coast hardwoods. Most species are available in various thicknesses, from 4/4 (1" rough) through 8/4 (2" rough). A few woods come in thicker options.

Almquist Lumber purchases fine hardwoods grown and harvested from the mid-west to the northeast of the US and Canada. These woods include red and white oak, cherry, poplar, hickory, maple, ash, birch and walnut, to name a few. We buy many species directly from mills and are able to offer competitive pricing.
