Stenerson Bros. Lumber Co. was founded in 1889 by Norwegian immigrants, Sven, Gunder, and Knute Stenerson. The Stenerson brothers purchased forty acres of wooded land near Pelican Rapids, MN. While cutting wood for heating and cooking, they discovered that many of the trees were large enough for processing into lumber, which they soon started selling to their neighbors.
