Services
Natural Flagstone
Our natural flagstone selection delivers durable, slip-resistant surfaces for patios, walkways, and interiors. Available in irregular and geometric patterns, these stones withstand freeze-thaw cycles while maintaining aesthetic appeal. Homeowners benefit from our hands-on material selection process that ensures quality consistency across 300 sq. ft. orders. Contractors appreciate bulk pricing and delivery options for large-scale projects.
Building Stone
We supply full-slab building stone for exteriors, retaining walls, and architectural features. Our inventory includes regional varieties like Maryland's Seneca Buff and Western MD fieldstone that withstand decades of weather exposure. The material requires no periodic staining or sealing, maintaining its value as a permanent home enhancement. Our staff assists with matching existing stonework and creating custom patterns.
Landscaping Gravel
Our gravel selection includes 20+ crushed stone varieties for functional and aesthetic applications. From drainage solutions using 2' wash gravel to ornamental pea gravel pathways, we offer materials that resist compaction while enhancing landscape design. Bulk delivery options accommodate driveway projects requiring multiple truckloads without additional fees.
Thin Stone Veneer
We distribute natural thin stone veneer panels that combine traditional aesthetics with modern installation efficiency. These 1' thick pieces adhere directly to wall surfaces without special foundations, making them ideal for renovations. The material maintains thermal mass properties while reducing structural requirements compared to full-depth masonry.
Boulder Installations
Our landscaping boulder inventory features Pennsylvania quartzite and Lake George formations for erosion control and design accents. We assist clients with placement strategies that create natural-looking water features while providing practical protection for mailboxes, foundations, and commercial properties. Delivery includes heavy equipment for precise positioning.

Questions
How does Irwin Stone ensure product quality?
We implement strict quality control by personally inspecting stone shipments and allowing customers to hand-select materials when needed. Our long-term relationships with quarries guarantee consistent supply of premium materials.
What delivery options are available?
We deliver throughout the Washington Metropolitan area using various truck sizes, including crane-equipped vehicles for heavy loads. Special arrangements can accommodate deliveries as far as Richmond and the Chesapeake Bay region.
Can homeowners purchase the same materials as contractors?
Yes, we sell directly to both contractors and homeowners with the same pricing and quality standards. Our staff provides guidance to help DIY customers make informed selections.
Do you carry hard-to-find stone products?
Our staff specializes in sourcing unique materials through our nationwide quarry connections. If a specific stone type isn't in stock, we can often locate and obtain it through our supplier network.
How should I maintain natural stone installations?
Most applications require minimal maintenance. We recommend avoiding rock salt for de-icing and using calcium magnesium acetate instead. Regular cleaning with appropriate stone cleaners preserves material integrity.

Pretty happy with my experience at Irwin Stone. I am doing a little backyard project myself and needed to pick up some paver stones. This place has an overwhelming number of choices and my masonry experience is non-existent. So here I am in the middle of their stone yard, aimlessly looking around when Bub appeared on his forklift and 20 minutes later I was walking out of that place with a pretty good idea of the pattern I was going to use, with all the calculations of how much I need for my project done and a scheduled delivery date! Boom!

I have been to all of the stone yards looking for stone for my house being built. Here at Irwin Stone I found the absolute best customer service they worked with me on pricing and I purchased all of my stone for my house there. As a woman I was treated with the utmost respect! I highly recommend this place!

The good: Quality of product is great and material in the yard is organized nicely and easily accessible. Showroom is nice. Location is conveniently located near the heart of Rockville. The not-so-good: If you are looking for bang for your buck your wallet will not forgive you especially if you need to buy in bulk. Had a much better experience at Tri-State off of Seven Locks. No frills. A slight bit further but they have a much larger selection of materials. Their prices are amazing too. If you have kids bring them to Tri-State. They will get a kick out of the huge rock quarry -- quite a sight to see.
