We are honored to have been selected to complete the I-85 bridge repair. For the last 44 days, our employees had the opportunity to show the City, State, and Nation, that construction work is demanding, difficult, but also very rewarding. We have so many people and companies to thank. From the first responders that were critical in protecting the lives of the traveling public to our vendors and subcontractors that worked tirelessly to help us complete the project in record time.We are thankful to the community for the outpouring of support, for the kindness you displayed to our employees, and for all the encouraging words you have shared with all of us.

Our History

From the humble beginning of one tractor and two dump trucks, C.W. Matthews and two local businessmen formed a company in 1946 after he returned from the World War II Pacific Theater. Their goal was to provide grading services for farm ponds. In 1954 Mr. Matthews formed C.W. Matthews Contracting Co., Inc. and three years later made the pivotal decision to enter the plant-mixed asphalt business.

With Bill Hammack's retirement I am only the 4th President in the Company's history. The leadership team that has been assembled is made up of myself, Michael D. Bell and two Matthews' family representatives Charles E. Matthews and Matt D. Burton. Working together our leadership team will insure that CWM maintains its position as the leader in our industry.
