Schafer's Landscape Supply

Have used Schafers several times for our commercial projects and they are always helpful, courteous and professional. I have been behind the 8ball a couple of times and they are able to get me what i need and when i need it. Very well run facility. Thank you.

Ordered 5 yds of mason sand and driver dropped it on top of flagstone patio. When I called to complain the driver attempted to berate me and shift blame. How the f&$@ do you not see a square 15'x15' flagstone layout? Why would you put sand on top of it? That's ok they just lost my business and will not receive any recommendations from me

Update : After a brief conversation with the owners, I feel Ken was an anomaly. They could provide me with a tentative time for delivery after speaking with the driver. Being a local business proponent, I don't wish to give them a terrible review. Purchased fill dirt from these guys. They don't tell you what time the dirt may be delivered. I ordered on evening of 2nd July.

When I called on 3rd July morning, to ask for a TENTATIVE time for delivery, the front desk person (Ken) was extremely rude in his reply. These people can't even give you a tentative time or delivery, morning, afternoon or evening etc. May be it will get delivered in 3 days, these guys don't want to answer any questions regarding delivery. Done doing business with them.

The guy that helped me out with loading limestone and his customer service skills was on point I would highly recommend this company

I had a bad experience with Schaffner's Landscaping in Lansing, Mi. Contacted them about my delivery and dump spread because my dump spread never happened. The delivery driver was late, and I was told hit a power line disabling his truck with my load. Rumor has it that he also quit after getting electrocuted (unconfirmed). Schaefer's dispatch does not know their equipment's limitations nor do they have a good relationship with their drivers in my opinion.

I am writing this review because: 1: I showed dispatch VIDEO of the area I wanted a dump spread, along with the route the driver should take on property to get to the site and was told routing the truck (by the dispatcher) to do a dump spread was not an issue even though it had recently rained causing water to pool at the bottom of our site. 2. My employee was told by the DRIVER that he refused "to take his truck back there because it would get stuck and require a winch out, which would cost me about $500 per hour" plus extra fees when the tow vehicle would get bogged down in the mud.

Of course my employee was a former tow truck driver and was actually yelling at me over the phone trying to explain that this would happen before I even set up the delivery as I was standing in front of the dispatcher. Instead of a nice flat dump spread I come home to my circle driveway being impassable because they dumped a pile of gravel 5' high in the middle of the driveway making that part of the circle impassable.

If and when they decide to fix this issue I will probably change this review to a 3 or 4 star review. I am basing my review off of a single experience and so your experience may be different (hopefully better) than mine. Posting this review hopefully will entice/deter you to do business with the Lansing location in the future. Edited September 2020: Upgraded to two stars due to a response from the owner.

I still stand by my opinion that dispatch should know as much as the drivers do especially when they are shown on camera what it is.this discussion in my opinion doesn't really have any merit in the context of my review though. Objectively one would look at not only my whole experience but also that of other reviews for the business.

Very easy to buy a truckload of mulch! Also pretty sure I got more than I paid for because it was a really good deal! Much cheaper to buy bulk than to buy bagged mulch at a local store.

They always deliver what I order when they say they will - and dump it where I need it. Such reasonable prices. Love this place!

They are on time, courteous, flexible and willing to spend time with me to make sure they know exactly what I want. I will only use Schafers Landscape Supply, they are trustworthy and that's important when having work done at your home.

They don't gouge you on prices, they have even saved me money by helping me cut corners by choosing comparable products. I have used them to plow my driveway and clear snow off my sidewalks in the winter. They are the BEST in town by far!
