Terrible service and unhelpful staff. Called to ask about a few pieces, was told I would have to drive 30 minutes to come look at their supply. When I got there, they told me I had 5 minutes to look. When I found a piece, they wouldn't cut it because it was too close to closing time. Such a colossal waste of time.

Unlike Leon Lopez review posted 2 weeks ago, my experience today was quite fruitful. Despite a high density repair/renovation effort inside the shop, Steel Staff was friendly and diligent. I will be back again.

This place is great. Prime example of treat people as you want to be treated. I go in here time to time for any of my steel or aluminum needs! I was even more ecstatic when I notice the company offers quality cutting blades of diffrent sizes. Kindness and Respect my fellow reviewer. I've met most of their employees as well and can say they where all helpful and accurate in the information that was provided. Plus 100 bucks for 4x8 ft sheet metel is good in NVA.hot rolled too. I'm definitely going back and I'd recommend you go here for metel needs before H.D.

I really wanted to buy local but looking online they some great prices on flat bars. I called Potomac Steel and they worked with me and met the other company's price and cut to order. Great product, service and much appreciated.

I bought some washers here the first time in Potomac Steel in Springfield, VA. I do not see any sign or note for no return, no exchange in the store. When I come back to return the item I don't use, the head cashier told me that the store's policy is no return, no exchange and some small words in the receipt has that policy. I never know in the US has the big store with the policy like that. I request the store has a big sign or note for customer before make decision to buy the items. not a little words in the receipt.

$47.40 for 24 feet of 1x1x14 gauge square tube. Prices are definitely not competitive. I usually use MISSCO, Inc in Maryland and now I really believe I've been getting good deals there, highly recommend them. Anyways, I thought I would give Potomac Steel a try. Lucky me, I got here at 12 noon. Lady sent me to the big roll up steel door outside, as I'm walking there the small door sign says they are closed until 1PM for pick ups. Had to wait for an hour.

Why you ask?. Well. Potomac Steel has a no money back, no returns, and all sales are final thing. You don't find out until they hand out your paid copy of the receipt. I did feel the service desk lady (Kasandra) was fast and courteous and the warehouse guys were efficient and get your stuff in a timely manner. They did not have 1x2 rectangular steel but offered to order some and probably get it by Monday or Tuesday.

Today being Friday. Not bad. I think they are priced a little higher than most places I buy steel from. Definitely way better than BMG Metals in Manassas. Over there you have to hunt for a service person to take your order, and the battle isn't over, you still have to hunt and ask around the workers who send you away to ask the next person in charge of the area your order is located at. Lol. 1 hour later they give you your stuff and they don't cut it for you due to insurance or something. So, you have to drive out with a 24 feet of steel sticking from your vehicle to the road to cut it yourself. Definitely a lot of trouble.

All the bad reviews are definitely from other steel competition companies. Potomac Steel would not have lasted over 50yrs with poor customer service! They have everything you need and more. New ownership has definitely also helped so much! They have employees from everywhere that can satisfy your every need! Always willing to help. Thanks to Kasandra for helping me out on my orders! Will always buy from Potomac Steel! Thank you for you business.

The bad posts on here are obviously either planted posts from BMG employees, or one-offs in general. Check out the reviews on BMG, and you will see why most people take their business to Potomac Steel and elsewhere. Potomac Steel would not have lasted for 70 years by treating their customers poorly. No business can please everyone 100%, and especially when they have so many customers flocking to them, they struggle to keep up. I've NEVER had a problem when dealing with Potomac Steel. Very helpful overall!

The under new ownership sign is no mistake. They truly care about the customer. I had a simple piece of steel that I wanted cut for the back of my fireplace to reflect heat. They had now problem helping me design and build it. It took them lest than 30 min. Trust me if you're looking for something and need some help making it. These folks mean business.

I even met the owner in the shop and found out that he was from the Kansas City area (my home town). Had a lengthily conversation while I waited in the shop watching them fill my order. Great place.

TERRIBLE. This place is overpriced and the service is really bad. I'm done shopping here. I will pay a couple extra bucks to support local businesses, but Potomac Steel makes it too hard. Go to BMG Metals in Manassas or order online from SpeedyMetals and have what you need shipped to you. Even after shipping, it will cost less and you won't waste a trip.

They do have good metal working capabilities, but you are going to PAY DEARLY for them. The guy at the desk told me that they were over-priced. I got hit with a surprise fee at checkout that was twice the amount of what I bought. The front desk staff is below average, and so far I've only found one guy in the shop that offered me any help. Everything is way overpriced. Materials - overpriced.

Metal working services - overpriced. Tools - overpriced. Hardware - overpriced. You get the idea. It's just not worth it. Don't waste your time or money here. You worked too hard to earn it!
