Excellent store. Have gone to this store for a couple of years now and always top-notch service and helpful personnel. I drive past several paint stores to get here. It is that good.

My partner and I decided to paint a couple of rooms in our neely purchased home. When I came into the store, there were about three other customers being waited on already, or simply waiting for their paint to be formulated. But it didnt take long for the friendly guy behind the counter to ask me what I needed. I was stuck on the actual sheen type, that is the difference between pearl and eggshell finish.

He explained that the pearl would turn out to be sonewhat more shiney than eggshell. That was something that we did not want so I stuck with the eggshell type. We already had two colors in mibd and we ordered two gallons of each. It took him about seven minutes to mix the cokors and shake the paint to perfection. I thought that was pretty darn fast! Now comes the fun part where we get to make a big mess of the walls and ourselves!

Always a good experience the sales person on duty waited for me to get there. Guess I sounded desperate. There was a tiny bit of traffic on NY Ave. I got what I needed and a few more things

New to Wakefield and ready to remodel. I hate the experience I had at this shop. I cane for samples and advice (it's my first time painting ANYTHING) I got to the store about 20 mins after opening. Early bird get the shitty service apparently. He was nice. But not very informative. I'm an advocate for 420 but please smoke a sativa before you come to work where you have to share base information.

He asked me "how could I help" and I gave him the name of the 2 colors I needed sampled for. Another guy asked if I hd been helped so I said yes. The first guy the asks me "was he able to get the samples for you" I replied "no, I gave you the info so I assumed I was already being helped". I had to keep saying IM HERE FOR SAMPLES AND IVE NEVER PAINTED ANYTHING SO ANY ADVICE WOULD BE CERTAINLY HELPFUL" I said this over 8 times in the 20 mins I was in the shop. Im annoyed and I'm going to ACE by the target.

My dog is welcome and I also need pots for my houseplants. Owners, feel free to reach out if you have any questions. I'll be more than pleased to discuss my displeasure.

They helped us order wallpaper samples, get the paper and chose an installer (R & M Decorating). R & M was excellent!

This place is the best! I should have left a review over a year ago when my dad and I did a significant indoor painting project. We made a lot of trips needing various items and a lot more paint than we assumed. We got a lot of advice and offered expertise and the rooms we painted still look amazing. I'm leaving the review because I'm about to do a second big project starting with my kids' rooms and multiple colors and I wouldn't even think of going anywhere else. I'm going to need some more advice and know I can trust them here.

Had a wonderful experience with this location. I had been to another Monarch Paint Center closer to my home after having a hard time matching paint to my new bathroom tile. The first paint store didn't offer much assistance but referred me to this location to speak with their designers. Well, I thought this was just a sales push to get me to hire one of their designers. Nonetheless, I called them and spoke with a designer.

When I explained that I really just needed help matching a few tiles, she offered to help me as long as I drove to their store. I got just the help that I need and the paint looks amazing and just what I had envisioned. Once I was ready for a sample, I headed to the counter where I was met with very pleasant and efficient staff that helped me get the sample I needed and get checked out. Will definitely shop here again and would more than recommend them for any of your painting needs. Thank you Monarch!

I had such a positive experience here yesterday that I am leaving a review! I only purchased a pint of paint, but the gentleman who helped me was friendly and knowledgeable about the products. He went above and beyond to make me feel like my business is valued. Plus, the store is extremely clean and spacious. I love to support small businesses, and I will be recommending Monarch to my building management company and landlord!

This is a truly nice paint store. They sell paint, including Benjamin Moore Regal exterior paint (which is surprisingly hard to find) in a lovely space, with competent staff and excellent service. They take paint orders at a counter, and they're efficiently mixed in the back, and the people are friendly and helpful. They have a huge wall of paint chips, and also a selection of blinds and design services that I haven't investigated. There's a surprising number of local stores that sell paint that don't really seem to know what they're doing. (We went there from a different paint store where the customer service was so terrible and the people were so incompetent that we left.) It was really a pleasure to find this store.

Monarch Paint & Wallcovering is so much more than a paint store! They offer high-quality Hunter-Douglas blinds and solar shades, as well as room-darkening shades for bedrooms--not to mention some exquisite wallpaper. Their service is superb--from the initial, design phase to installation. Design Manager Judith Hunter provides exceptional service. She knows her product line, is meticulous and imaginative, and willing to listen to the customer and work out a just-right solution. Judith helped us identify the right solar shades for our windows and size them correctly.

She custom designed a room-darkening shade solution for our bedrooms that left our mini-blinds intact (so that we could have the privacy from blinds during the day and the sleep-inducing darkness of opaque shades at night), but retains a streamlined look. I cannot recommend her and Monarch more highly.

Monarch Paint saved me! Needing touch-up paint for my house, I didn't know what I was going to do when I opened the paint can & all the paint was a dried blob, as I didn't want to have to repaint all the walls where there were marks from kids & just regular wear & tear. The Monarch paint guy followed the paint recipe & then painted next to the old paint that had run down the side of the old paint can--but it didn't match because the paint was 7 years old.

Then he added some more drops of color & remixed. I was amazed when I got home & painted a sample spot & the yellow color was a PERFECT match. It took me only 15 minutes to do all the touch ups!

Sherry Burton Ways, the colorist at the store is exceptional. She has a great fund of knowledge about paint and an excellent eye for color. She's a pleasure to work with because she truly listened to our preferences.

The owner has contacted me and stated the following: "It appears we were able to find the transaction information regarding your experience based on the information you have provided. We have found that it dates back to September of 2012. We purchased Monarch in April of this year from the previous owner. No personnel associated with the decorating department at the time of your transaction is currently employed with Monarch, so we are unable to get additional details of what transpired and how the decorating department handled your unfortunate situation." Also "Based on the transaction dating September of 2012, we would appreciate if you could remove your posting from Yelp considering this transpired under previous ownership and almost 3 years ago.

As a business owner I am sure you understand the impact that a negative review can have on your business, especially one that is not associated directly with your business and one that occurred almost 3 years ago and was not posted in a timely manner to reference the current state of a business."

Had a custom Ralph Lauren Suede color made that ended up being completely wrong. It clashed with my adjoining walls, my art and my furniture. Being familiar with the color and paint from using it before I compared it to the sample chip. It was totally off, and I needed to redo the entire project. The associate at Monarch DID refund my purchase, but refused to attempt to make the color match the sample for me.

I felt he was rude and condescending, and had to go to another store. I was not impressed with the customer service, but I feel it may be only the rude associate I dealt with. In the past, I found them to be much more courteous and professional.

I stopped in Monarch today, after seeing on their site that they carry C2 paints: "The C2 colors are all available in easy to use 18" x 24" Ultimate Paint Chip samples - no mess or cleanup of these samples - selecting your color has never been easier!" I love the ultimate paint chip and having seen it at Potomac Paints in Arlington, I wanted to see some more (close to work).

They don't actually carry the chips (small or large), you can only order the paint through them. Definitely false advertising. I also wanted to check out some Benjamin Moore Afffinity for Aura paints. After seeing the chips and sample pots in Arlington yesterday, I wanted to pick up a small pot to try out. Not only were the pots mostly gone (they had maybe 1 of 5 colors available), even the paint chip card I wanted was empty. I wouldn't go back to this store for the purpose of paint color research.

I'm no painting expert but I love me some West Elm! Enter Benjamin Moore. The west elm catalog has the Benjamin Moore paint colors used in each photo shoot listed on each page. Most of my bedding is from west elm, so I was looking for a steel gray wall color to complement the look of the room. Shadow gray was available in my local store and for about 38 bucks a gallon, I bought 2.

The paint is a lot heavier than what you get from Home Depot (*cough* Behr sucks *cough*), which made it easier to apply, and the colors look so much richer and less streaky. It dried fairly quickly as well, but I'm sure the 100+ degree weather we've been "enjoying" in DC lent a hand in that. The workers there are very friendly and helpful and their paint supplies are moderately priced compared to ACE Hardware which is just up the street.

I will certainly come back for future paint! If you'd like to see the coverage job, I posted a Before/After pic of the room I painted. The gray on the left is the "After".

Benjamin Moore is really the only paint you should ever use for interiors. Awesome finish, great coverage, drys fast. It's expensive but worth it. Every other brand is Crayola in comparison. YAY! Friendly staff Boo. Closed at 5pm

Have been to a few of thier stores. The service and selection of products is great. The service would be hard to beat. Though there are other paint stores in the district I certainly would check here first. Benjamin Moore is the primary paint brand that they carry.

Great paint store. They have a decorating/wallpaper section in the front of the store, and a paint section in the back. I've never used their decorating ladies in the front of the store, but have gotten great advice from the paint guys (and even a customer) in the back of the store. They have a knowledgeable staff and good products. They not only carry Benjamin Moore paints, but also Fine Paints of Europe and assorted other useful products and tools from various manufacturers. A+

Great store. Great people. Great location. Just south of the Chevy Chase circle on Connecticut Ave. NW, they are convenient to Bethesda, Chevy Chase, and NW DC. I thought I knew what I was doing when I started repainting the inside of my home in Bethesda. I was wrong. The colors I chose were, in my imagination, both bold and earthy at the same time.

They ended up clashing horribly. There are three decorators at this location and all three are very knowledgeable about the types of houses in the area and how lighting can affect color combinations. I opted to forgo the in home consultation and took the advice I was given on placement of the colors I'd chosen. With only one exception, I was able to use the colors I'd originally picked.

Rather than covering whole walls with the palette, I was advised to use some of the colors as accents. The result is amazing. I come home now and marvel at the insight the decorator was able to bring to my project while not having stepped foot into my home. I think, though, that I will take her up on her offer of an in home consultation when I tackle a different part of the house. The lighting in that area is strange and I want her to see the space. I feel sure that the cost will be more than worth it.
