KRC Rock

We really tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt. NEVER again will I even bother to waste my gas to come here. This was by far the WORST customer service experience we have EVER had. It started out when no one even bothered to ask if we needed help although there were obvious employees (t-shirts with logo on them) standing there playing on their phones and talking to each other.

We approached the counter and inquired about retaining wall materials and what if any were available. We were told the only ones in stock were the ones that were more expensive. We were in a bind and decided to move forward with the purchase and paid for the material. This was on Monday afternoon at 2pm. Our contractor went to pick up the materials on Tuesday morning at 0730 and was told the store had SOLD our materials to someone else and didn't have any in stock. Needless to say our project is now delayed due to this incompetency.

We called the store and asked when and if they would have any more and they were unsure. We received a call Tuesday afternoon that they would have more in stock, but at this juncture our contractor could not pick up the material. We asked for free delivery or even a discounted delivery and were told flat out "we don't do those things" with ZERO apology.

We went right away and demanded a refund and took our business elsewhere. Home Depot incidentally had those same exact stones for a dollar cheaper EACH, with an additional military discount. We saved $200. Lord knows why things happen. I should've went with my instinct and walked out when we had the chance. Note to management: work on your customer service and train your employees accordingly.

KRC San Marcos is amazing! This is the place to go to get inspiration for your landscaping projects. The selection is amazing. The staff is friendly and very helpful. The Poway location is smaller and doesn't have the extensive display or selection that the San Marcos location has.

WOW! This place has a great selection of rocks and paver stones. The demo displays are fantastic and everything is well organized.

KRC sets the bar for quality. Friendliness and knowledge of the staff. They make it fun and exhilarating to spend money on rocks!

Good selection and layout of items. The staff inside could use some better training in customer service, they seemed a bit rude and more interested in their own conversations. The guys out in the yard doing the real work were great and though busy, got me taken care of without a problem. Masks are apparently not required for the staff inside the building, as not a soul was wearing one, yet the guys outside were virtually all masked up. It's not a big deal to me, but some people really care about that so I thought I'd mention.

Wow, what a wonderful selection of pea gravel! Yes, getting excited about pea gravel as it will be the end, or close to, of our front yard remodel!

Have been coming here for the last 10 years to get my bulk supplies. Everyone is always friendly. Great place to do business with.

I'm not an experienced Rock purchaser. This was my first time at KRC Rock. I parked where we're supposed to park and a gentleman helped me right away. I told him what I was looking for and he took me to the spot I picked up my thing I was out the door in 15 minutes. They have a really nice selection of rocks. I highly recommend doing business with this company.

Great local rock/ aggregates store. Wide selection of common and custom product. Always have what I need and service is top notch. Guys are very knowledgeable and always ready to help you out. I would recommend to any contractor or DYI. Them greens.

What crappy service from the lady that picked up the phone! I asked her about the cost of soil to fill my raised garden beds and told her I live on the same street as their facility. She asked me what the zip code is for my address, found that to be a silly question since I told her I'm on the same street as them. Told her the zip code and she asked what I needed, so I had to tell her again that I needed soil to fill my raised bed for my garden.

She quickly said all she has is too soil that has some manure in it, didn't explain ratios or anything just rushed through the call. I asked about delivery fee since I'm down the street and how much that would cost, she asked for the zip again and then told me it's 116$ up to 11 yards. Told her I didn't need 11 yards I only needed 4 and she said it didn't matter since it's 1 price up to 11 yards, I then asked her is there something cheaper since I'm literally 3 blocks away from them on the same st and she quickly said umm I don't know it's off the zip code so yeah. Terrible service, lady doesn't know how to talk to people or find any solutions. Will skip this place and find another company.

Lots of options here for us. Nice people. We were able to look around and take photos and then go home and decide and order/pay by phone. Our yard guy picked it all up for us (we gave him the invoice number) and spread the gravel. Looks great! Easy peasy!

These guys ROCK! Great service and selection of rocks, gravel, stone to choose from. Our backyard contractor recommended this place and was conveniently located nearby as they have several locations around the county to choose from.

Like many of you during this crazy time of Pandemic, we decided to finally improve our home by doing some stone work on our exterior pillars ourselves. A recent experience with the other "disreputable" Stone business in town has motivated me to leave this review. I found our sales person at RCP to not only be very helpful in our stone veneer selection, but also knowledgable and accurate in the estimating of the 3 different types of stone veneer required to do our job.

As a DIY home owner I am very handy but it really helps to gain the needed information to do a job the correct way. The stone estimate was accurate. The delivery was timely as promised. The mortar recommended worked out well and the small amount of broken pieces during shipping were replaced, no questions asked! Thank you very much RCP for being professional and helpful to us.

This was our 2nd visit to this location in two weeks and the same experience both times. Absolutely awful customer service. There was only 1 other customer, 3 employees standing around. Not one offered to help or even acknowledge our presence. As a matter of fact when I asked the employee standing near us a question, he said he can't answer my question because he's on lunch break. He didnt bother to get anyone to help me either. I will gladly spend my money with your competitors RCP in Santee. They were much more knowledgeable and helpful.

Waked into the yard to get flagstone. Saw what we wanted. Jorge helped us decide size and weight and went with 2 tons. Walked in to get rung up and Steve was friendly and hooked me up. Delivered exactly how they said it would be and in the time frame as promised. We went to lakeside first. They didn't have the quantity we needed. Same good customer service and looked up inventory in Poway and there we went.

My daughter and I went by there today for the first time. We were there to get a few rocks for a project. The gentleman at the counter ended up gifting them to us. It was such a pleasant surprise and a generous jester, we plan to pay forward. Thanks KRC Rock for the great experience!

This location has the worst customer service. The older guy at the desk is horrible, not friendly at all.

This place has a large selection but is insanely expensive and their customer service is non existent. For the grey cobble stone I needed, Home Depot had it 12X cheaper. Unless you are a high end contractor that overcharges customers, check out rcp or a box store.

I've been here a couple of times. They have a good selection of rocks and such. Their parking lot is gravel-ish and not good in the rain, but finding a spot isn't an issue. My only problem with them is the customer service. From the front end to the guys who load your truck, they're not very friendly or communicative. Otherwise, they'd get five stars and I have no problem shopping there.

I forgot to to write this sooner but I usually only write bad reviews(sorry not sorry). But this place has changed my views on customer service and how business is expected to be conducted. I was so amazed hOw welll o was treated and how much information was patiently provided to me regarding my new landscaping project! Thank you Manny! Everyone go see Manny he will hook you up. I am impressed and I'm positive you will too.

My mom needed top quality pavers at a moderate price and did we find a goldmine! The whole staff was so eager to help us. Great friendly service. The managers name is Manny and he was such a good listener, and very knowledgeable he found us the right rocks for the right price. KRC Rock, rocks!

Please keep in mind this one star does affect my view on this company as a whole, but rather this one location and the customer service I received. I would recommend their Lakeside or San Marcos location anytime. While first calling this location an hour after they opened trying several times before emailing customer service on their website. I didn't want to drive thirty min to find out if they had what i needed.

Their customer service emailed back immediatly apologizing they were short handed and she would have someone call me. Steve called me back from the location, very unprofessional and rude, but stated they had the quantity of the exact item i needed. Even though he was rude I headed there. I entered the shop, said I called and needed a black lava rock.

Not wanting to move or really engage in helping he said they ste outside in the basket. Not familiar with their yard or where baskets were i questioned "Where?" He abruptly tossed his stuff on the desk and said forget it, seemed annoyed he had to walk a few feet to point me out to where they were. I got out to the yard where he sent a young man to assist, and the rock was not the one i needed.

The young man called him on the radio, he abruptly says thats all i have. Maybe an apology for telling me you had it and sorry you drove thirty min to get here, or let me see which location has it. But he wasn't about to help any further. I assume he isn't the owner, explaining his lack of wanting to please a customer or have a return one. I wonder if he owned that company would he be more motivated to make a sale or please a customer, so his business didn't fail? Would not recommend this location.

This rock shop hasit all. Best selection and prices. I have been a client for years, created dry river beds, and planter rock gardens. My favorite are Butte Moss boulders for shaded humid areas. The staff are always helpful and efficient. Take a look, you will find something. My sister in law even used some small recycled auto glass stones for Christmas gifts.great surprise.

Although KRC, in general, is a great company, this location is terrible. When I do use KRC, I try to go to the Lakeside branch. They are professional and thorough. Today at the Poway location, the guy at the register was too busy trying to be funny/ sarcastic/rude to get the order correct. Too busy listening to himself than to help my day go smoothly. I'll have to check if the products I needed are the same price as the wrong ones he charged me for.

But I won't do any of that here. My first experience with this location was a staffer reading off a clients credit number and ALL the pertinent info out loud, over the phone, in the store. I just hope everyone in there that day was honest.

The gentlemen at the counter were both great. Day 1 it was just shopping and getting rough ideas on prices, day 2 it was to order. Key is to go there when it's not too busy, if you can figure that out! I have the luxury of going during the weekdays as a retired homeowner. My front yard looks great with the "Las Vegas Pink" stone I had delivered. Now my summer project is complete. (Until my spouse finds new items for me to complete)

3.5 stars While converting part of my front lawn to drought tolerant landscape, I checked out the 3 major rock and gravel places around town. KRC came highly recommend, so this was my first stop. Of the 3 places KRC definitely had the most selection and variety of gravel and boulders for my project. They were helpful in giving prices and how much each would cost by either the yard or ton and how much area each would cover.

I did find that their prices were slightly higher than the other 2 places that i looked at, but again they had more desirable rocks and gravel. So they might have something that the other places don't have. They also sell their boulders by weight. Although their prices were a few $ more per yard than other places, I thought they had the best overall selection and more quality stones. So if you are looking for something specific or just more variety, i'd start here.
