Thank you for visiting Heritage Salvage, WE LOVE WHAT WE DO! Our collection of metal usually begins with patina and we allow that patina to grow waiting for you to discover it.
Heritage Salvage runs like a well oiled machine - much like the Wizard of Oz, HS is a rerun, repurposing, re-using, reclaiming and re-invigorating with the rekindled brain of a Rusty Scarecrow, the transplanted heart of the Tin Woodsman and the Mustered Courage of the Cowardly Lion - we've got old wood, and it still works good!
We offer custom design & build services for restaurant, office, home and garden using our reclaimed and salvaged materials. Custom wood and steel fabrication is done on sight in our Petaluma location. You can consult in person, online or by telepathic medium if our design team and you are on the same wavelength.
Reclaimed wood wall treatments add a look to your space simply unachievable from anything but the real deal. Whether you're just trying to warm up your decor or you'd like your walls to tell a story of their own; we offer a number of products that can help your transform your space into something that truly feels unique. When you show up to a lumber yard driving a Prius with a 4 year old along, you're never quite sure what reception you'll get. But these are just the nicest people and were happy to let us explore their lot even though we obviously weren't buying any beams today. Super neat place if you like recycled timbers and slab cut wood. Will be back!

Heritage salvage is an amazing place, with wonderful people who make amazing things. I was able to get a small slab of Parota from costa rica and make my Greek mother a small table on top of an old Singer base for Christmas. She about cried over it and said it was one of the best presents she has ever received. All thanks to Heritage Salvage for making available such a vast collection of beautiful reclaimed woods.

We have always had great service here and the quality of wood available is phenomenal. Each member of staff is very knowledgeable and willing to help. Great live edge options both pre-made and for DIY projects. Finally, pricing can vary. We got a great deal on our mantle piece at only $25 given we did the sanding, staining and install. But we spent just over $1,000 for a live edge table slab that they sanded, leveled and split for us. Both worth every penny and then some.

I recently made a Christmas gift for a friends restaurant using some "discarded treasures", I found at Heritage Salvage. I built a rolling sign/menu/planter cart at The Crucible in Oakland. The beautiful maple for the sign and the salvaged steel barn door track holding the LED strip lights and the redwood surrounding the planter box were all found at Heritage Salvage.

The redwood is salvaged from the Krug Winery dance floor. I love designing and building things with salvaged parts. It often adds serendipity and charm to a project. The frame for the menu display is salvaged steel stair railing. The rolling base is a vintage cast iron scale base, I have had for years. The trellis above the planter is rock screen. Blacksmith Artist, Celeste Flores forged and power hammered the top scroll.

Heritage Salvage is on my "scavenger" tour route and I often find cool stuff there, to add to my stash of stuff, for unknown future projects. The staff is very nice, knowledgeable and helpful.

Great salvage yard. I found a great antique screen door there. Purchased Spring 2016. Finally installed July 2018! I'm quite pleased with the result, and can heartily recommend anyone interested in vintage items and building materials visit and see what gorgeous finds they can acquire. It took a lot of hard work but I feel it was worth it.

I love this place. It still is the best place to wander and find that piece of ancient weathered wood for that special project, or a beautiful rusty piece to put on the wall or out in your garden. They still have the nicest people in the world working there. I recently did a walking tour with Ross Friedrich, and this guy has a passion for finding wood that can be repurposed into an incredible piece of furniture or help something outside make a statement.

I always spend about an hour looking at everything they have. I was even fortunate enough to have a visit from Michael "Bug" Deakin this time. If you look at my pics I have a photo of a painted caricature of him. He was a hoot. You should know everyone that works there act like family. They look so happy there. Still at the top of my visit list for Petaluma.

I was searching for a unique, rustic "barn door" to complete my master bath remodel project. After looking at all of the products online and visiting several local stores, I simply couldn't find anything that really "spoke" to me in terms of the design, finish and price. The barn doors that I did find, were all out of state and fairly pricey and the risk for buying out of state was too high.

I did some digging online and the only "local" option seemed to be a custom barn door created by Heritage Salvage in Petaluma, CA. Although a 1 1/2 hr drive, I was willing to make the trek to check them out. From the first phone call with Teresa, to the visit onsite with the crew, Lisa and Teresa helped me locate and design the most beautiful reclaimed chicken coop flooring and turned it into a master piece. Knowing that I was on a super tight timeline to get the door completed before my husband arrived home from overseas, these gals exceeded my expectations tenfold. I'm so pleased with the outcome and this piece is now one of the main signature pieces to my master bedroom and bathroom design. Best of all, it makes for an incredible story as well. ( I raise chickens too!) Thank you Heritage Salvage. I'll be back for more inspiration!

This is amazing, quite literally right up my alley since it's right down the street from AMF bowling. Driving up to their facility you can see that they have some amazing finds for the person that's trying to put that Perfect Touch on their project. Slabs of wood rustic everything Galore. This place is definitely worth the stop, even if you just want to stop in and see what they have to offer.

Heritage came through! Chris Cupp at Heritage Salvage donated a piece of lumber to a group of Sinaloa Middle School students, making a totem pole. The beautiful piece of Doug Fir will be carved into a totem pole telling the story of plastic pollution in the oceans. Thank you Heritage Salvage Lumber for supporting our students.

Heritage Salvage helped us create many wonderful additions for our home that we've been remodeling.multiple live-edge wood counters (half bathroom, computer nook in TV room) as well as a beautiful dining room table, and also a frame for an old large mirror. We had a blast picking out the woods and deciding on the what to do. They really helped us add a lot of beautiful, unique character and charm to our home with natural, salvaged woods that have wonderful stories.

Pretty good selection, but expect to pay a premium for used lumber. They seem to be oriented more towards the high end buyer who wants to build with reclaimed wood because it's in vogue, rather than the person who wants an economically viable alternative to shopping at the big-box stores. But hey, that's the north bay for ya!

This is a cool place to find unique items. The place is a large open lot with a small showroom. All over the lot you can find great salvage pieces, barn wood and other assorted unique items. The craftsmanship on the items they make seems to be really good. The staff treated us great, was friendly and very nice. The only reason I give it three stars opposed to four is the prices. This is a very expensive place to find salvage items. I still recommend because they have some really cool stuff and friendly people.

This place is a designers' gold mine! Lots of really cool pieces that inspired me to take on other projects here but I specifically came for reclaimed wood. There were tons of different types of wood and my finished product turned out better than I had imagined. The staff are all incredibly helpful too so if you have any sort of creative project then this is your place!

We went to dig around and find some smaller pieces for various shelving/table projects. We had plenty of time to wander, and when we went to the office to get some more info on prices, everyone was extremely helpful. They were very willing to negotiate on price and really know their stuff.

I really dig this place and have spent many Saturdays perusing their woodpiles for hidden treasure, and indeed I have found it. Their slab selection is nowhere as good as Z&E in Berkeley, but the "never know what you are going to find" element scratches me where I itch. Notable discoveries include a piece of teak from their 25 cent bin that is now a picture frame, and a few planks of wood from the barn that originally housed the Budweiser Clydesdale's.

My only complaint revolves around their seeming reluctance to offer planing services. Every time I have asked, they have tried to get me to leave the wood and come pick it up a few days later, an extra 80 mile round trip drive. When I protest, they have always acquiesced, but why the fuss? Despite the minor complaint, I love this place.

This place, while it does take some navigating, has an amazing selection of wood. My husband and I are building a simple set of shelves, and we were looking for a board with certain dimensions. The staff was very knowledgable about their selection, told us about the types of wood and where they were from (we were looking for a salvaged board) and were able to cut it to our dimensions for a reasonable rate.

The only reason this place isn't 5 stars is because the wood has now been inside our garage for a month and it still has large water spots, since it was stored outside and was soaked through in places. I know that this is what you get with reclaimed lumber, but it came to us very dirty and wet. It's taking a lot longer than we had originally anticipated to get the wood to a state where we can make our shelving. But the next time we need wood, we will certainly be back! Their selection of reclaimed, rustic, and interesting wood boards, beams, and slabs is unparalleled.

Let me preface my review by saying that I have been looking forward to patronizing Heritage Salvage since I moved to Petaluma 5 years ago. Last week my partner, my son, and I headed over looking for somethings to move us along in our backyard renovation. We were greeted kindly and told if we needed help to ask. We were then led to a piece of material that seemed like a good fit for a table top.

The woman helping us said she would be back shortly to pull it out. We sat and waited for an hour for her return. In the mean time she walked by us several times with other customers but never acknowledged us. Finally we could wait no longer and said we were leaving. She then promised us to take pictures of the slab and email us later that day with the pictures and accompanying information. Sadly, the email never came.

While at the yard we had eyed some other materials and were quoted a price (by the same sales person.) Today my partner returned to purchase this other material that was in its same location and quantity, seemingly untouched since our visit a week ago. The same sales person was present. However, today the price of these materials had somehow tripled, yes I said tripled, since the week before.

When my partner questioned the difference in price from one week ago she rather rudely informed him it wasn't the same product. Now, we do not claim to be experts on salvaged and reclaimed materials but it was obviously the same stuff we had looked at at week ago. I am sad to say that after two very disappointing visits, no reclaimed material can be found in our backyard.

Though I refuse to give up hope I can guaranteee that we will head out of town to find what we are looking for. Because I am so disappointed in the service we received I know we will not be returning to Heritage Salvage.

We were looking to do a reclaimed wood wall installation in our home and heard about Heritage on a design blog (remodelista.com) and so we drove up to check it out. It was perfect for what we were looking for: - Gorgeous reclaimed wood that was sorted by where it came from - we found a great set of wood from a 1920 Ohio barn. - Extremely friendly and helpful staff with planning projects and ideas. - A huge variety of wood, items to look through with planning all types of projects (furniture, walls, flooring, quirky items). Even just walking around their property is a fun thing to do when brainstorming ideas and possibilities. I highly recommend taking an afternoon to check them out!
