Compound chocolate is so easy! Compound chocolate substitutes the two main ingredients found in real chocolate. Instead of chocolate liquor, it has cocoa powder and replaces cocoa butter with an oil. This means it will set just fine without tempering it. Simply melt it and dip whatever you'd like in it.
Featuring the highest percentages of cocoa, dark chocolate is ideal for melting, dipping, and enrobing fruits, candies, baked goods, and more. Dark chocolate has a deeper flavor. Its richness and complexity offset the slightly bitter taste, offering an unmatched tasting experience compared to other types of chocolates.
Couverture chocolates have cocoa butter and chocolate liquor as main ingredients. This means couverture chocolates require more attention and preparation when being melted down. Couverture chocolates have to be tempered. If not tempered correctly, then the chocolate will bloom (leaving white streaks in your chocolate), or may not even set up properly. When it is tempered correctly, it sets up with a glossy shine, has a snap and melts in your mouth.
Thermometers are a kitchen essential. They are the most essential tool when tempering chocolate but are also useful when grilling and baking. Gygi offers premium thermometers from Wilton, Taylor, ThermoWorks and more.

Horrible customer service and attitude. I've twice left because a lack of bad service. I've been in twice to buy $2,500 set of knives and been ignored even after making eye contact. When I called to complain I received attitude and was treated rudely. Take your money elsewhere folks! They don't value you or your business.

Awesome place for fancy and cheap cookware. I definitely recommend going here to at least window shop.

Orson Gygi is a very nice, retail customer oriented baking supply store. They have a selection of cute, high quality items laid out in an attractive way. Similar items can be found a block away at the restaurant supply store, but come in larger quantities and with more of a Warehouse feel. The prices at Orson Gygi are much higher than the restaurant supply store.

You get a better shopping experience, but less selection and higher prices at Orson Gygi. I would suggest browsing Orson Gygi and buying at the restaurant supply unless you need small quantities.

Has such a wide variety of baking and decorating items. I went right in and found the pans I needed at a reasonable price. Also enjoyed strolling the aisles and scoping out all the fun kitchen items. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

I had NO idea this place existed until a friend took me here. The interior design, cheffy, artsy, part of me regrets not knowing about it sooner. The financially responsible part of me is glad this place has been hidden from me for so long. They have so much cute stuff in here; I could walk around for hours. They have all kinds of awesome kitchen gadgets and accessories.

They have the largest selection of aprons I have ever seen and they all are very decently priced too. I have been wanting an apron for a while but the only cute ones I can ever find are at Harmons and they are way too expensive hah. They carry all kinds of flavors and spices of different things. I enjoyed looking at all the flavors they have! It seems like they also have a lot of items that would be good for a businesses inventory napkin holders, receipt stabby things, salt and pepper shakers, etc.

They also host a cooking class in there, which seemed like so much fun! I would love to join in there someday! This place is truly a hidden gem, even if everyone else knows about it and it has just been hiding from me!

One time at this store and it's my new favorite! If you need anything kitchen related I bet they have it! It's so much fun to walk the aisles and imagine the possibilities. Next, I'm signing up for a class!

Need some unique or hard-to-find kitchen supplies? They've got it. High quality goods. Fair prices. Culinary arts enthusiasts will love it and possibly want to die here. We have to be careful whenever we go, or we'll spend our whole life's savings.

These guys will almost always have what you need. They are a great place to get quality baking and kitchen everything. I come here for the chocolate. The problem is that the cost has gone up over 300% on chocolate. They have what I need but it is not the best price in town. There is something to be said for one stop shopping but they are definitely charging you for it.

We find the most interesting items at this store. Think wholesale but open to retail for many many of your houseware items. Even tin pie pans and huge syrup bottles. Who needs 5 gallons of blueberry syrup. Good to the last drop! You will definitely be diabetic by time you finish that jug of sweetness. They also have ready made pies for sale in 30 varieties. Can't wait to try them all. Sweet and fat for the holidays. YUM! We actually love this fun quirky place.

I love this place! They have everything + more, the store is so big and awesome! Anything regarding cooking, desserts, sweets, parties you'll find here! I'm not a baking professional but I shop here quite frequent whenever I'm making homemade birthday cakes and such. I love to cook so that's another reason why I love the shop! I highly recommend them! They have a great selection of baking cocoa and chocolate like callebaut and guittard. Their chocolate sprinkles ( thin ones) from guittard are the best!

Gygi is amazing for everything. Their customer service is on point! They have every kind of chocolate you'd need. They're so helpful and knowledgeable about product! Also they have the most amazing cake classes by Courtney! They're the only place that carries an extensive line of sweetapolita sprinkles! (Major win!) They also carry very hard to find packaging as well as super cool gadgets (hello cotton candy maker for your home!) and their prices are usually the lowest, even lower than amazon.

I can't say enough good! Oh but also.their employees are all still wearing masks even though they legally don't have to! AND they've always had curbside pick up as well. Love them so much!

Ordered melting chocolate from GYGI. The package was delivered quickly, which was great, however, the chocolate had bloomed. I called to ask what I could do and it was the worst customer service experience I had ever had. I didn't ask for a refund, but I did spend over $100.00 on chocolate that could not be used. When I called and said I would have to throw it all away because it couldn't be sold, they said "You have to do what you have to do". Never again. I would rather plant a cocao tree, grow my own beans and attempt to make chocolate than deal with this company again.

Who doesn't need a gallon jug of snow cone syrup on a Tuesday evening? Oh, just me? I'm ok with that. It's a steal at $10.99. They have everything you can think of to delight a foodies heart and more. From inexpensive gadgets to high end cookware, it's there. I could drop a significant amount of money in there if I was allowed to leisurely shop with no time commitments. I really loved their cute kitchen home decor section. It was unexpected, but lots of adorable items. Tons of cake stands, charcuterie boards, mugs and dish towels.

This is only my second out third time here but I love to browse around and look at all the different kitchen gadgets. On this trip I noticed that they have a good selection of traegar grills and supplies. We also found a good selection of sugar free syrups that go well in coffee. The Irish Creme is great in a latte. We also bought coconut for sodas and vanilla, all sugar free.

This visit they had a huge selection of chocolate for dipping that my mom uses so she grabbed a huge bar of that. I great store to find unique gadgets or some hard to find items. They also of a good selection of candy.

This place has it all. If you have a cotton candy machine, this place has all of the flavorings for it. This place also has: a bunch of different syrups with flavors that I never knew existed, different types of moldings for baking/ chocolate, kitchen tools, home decor, aprons, cookware, and more! Some items were overpriced but others were fairly priced! I got some baking items here and a $5 cheesecloth!

An astounding collection of dazzling and specialized cooking and baking equipment. I've been saving Orson Gygi for a day when I knew I'd have the time to savor every aisle, and when I stepped in, it did not disappoint. They had everything from pans, frosting tips, small appliances, spatulas to comically large spoons, pots, and charcuterie boards.

Of course, they offered ceramic cast iron pots, name brand knives, the industry's best i stand read thermometers, and kitchen gadgets both expected and hard-to-come-by. I did not expect, but was pleasantly surprised by the seasonal Halloween accoutrements, broad selection of aprons, flour sack towels, and the immensely large and lavish homey-looking kitchen they managed to hide in the middle of the store.

There were lots of different sizes and designs of little baggies, paper baking cups, and packaging for baked goodies. I could have done without the paper plates and plastic forks and party-type disposable supplies that could be found at a dollar store, or the section with kitschy house decor that could have perhaps gone in a kitchen, but really wasn't related to cooking at all and had a very Hobby Lobby vibe to it.

I would have been happier if that space was dedicated to more in depth things like weighted cake stands, a broader selection of spices, or some hard to find ingredients, or more ethnic or specialty baking and cooking implements. I came in looking for vanilla beans and was surprised not to find them. In conclusion, I think Gygi has done a fabulous job of combining more industrial or professional equipment, and trendy embellished items for the more accomplished home chef. It's the perfect place to gift shop for someone who loves to cook, and it's good to peruse this place to keep in mind what they offer in case you need that specialized something an advanced recipe calls for.

They have pretty much anything you need to cook, bake, grill, make candy, etc and much more that you did not know you needed. Are you looking for a Hannah Montana cake pan? They have it. Are you looking to decorate your kitchen in a piggy theme? They have it all. Are you looking for a very expensive pizzelle maker? They have it. Are you looking tres cher french clay pots? Yup, they have them too.

Want a different cookie cutter or two or 50? They have a wall of cookie cutters. This is not the store if you are trying to reduce impulse buying, or if you are looking for someone to help you find something or if you have any questions.

Such a fun store if you are a baker or love to bake treats! A Utah gem if you have a hobby in the kitchen. There is a variety of EVERYTHING! They have every cookie cutter you can imagine and every color of food dye possible. My favorite is their selection of sprinkles. They Orse & Gygi brand is $3.99 for a bag. Not bad at all! They also have a lot of seasonal decor and tons of kitchen gadgets. Plenty of parking and it's such a big store there are a few entrances, I used the far South entrance.

I'd never shop here even if they had the only or best products in town. They have no customer service that cares. The old blind man at the front is the worst! On top of all that they have no water fountain here for the public or no vending machine for drinks. Poor establishment.

Gygi is the best for all of your cooking supply needs. They have AMAZING customer service. They will drop whatever they are in the middle of to make sure that your needs are met. They have a lot of competitive deals that make it worth it to look at their sales. They also have the best cooking classes. I always love stopping by!

Love the variety of kitchen gadgets, paper goods, and specialty food products offered here. We drive out of our way it seems like every other month to come here. Where else can you find every size of cookie scoop. I love the variety of paper goods for parties and every day events. But our favorite thing to buy here is their dark cocoa powder, it makes the best dark chocolate cookies. Large selection of cookie cutters, the real deal food coloring and I could go on. Reasonable prices too.

Home cooks and Top Chef fanatics need to check this place out, stat! If you don't have a restaurant or food business and can't get into Restaurant Depot, Gygi is a great substitute. Think of it as a Restaurant Depot lite, a place where average folks can peruse professional gear and ingredients with no need to be a chef on a payroll. It looks like a plain warehouse on the outside but it's open to the public. Looking for a chef's coat?

They have 'em. How about professional cookware or bakeware? Yep. You'll find everything from concession supplies (popcorn bags, cotton candy machines, snow cone syrup, ice cream scoops), party plates and supplies, chocolates for candy making, espresso spoons, fondant, odd-sized bakeware, cutting boards, whisks, and everything under the sun for home cooks.

This is a fantastic place if you are planning a party as they have paper plates and napkins and themed items year 'round. Bakers will particularly be in heaven here. The cookie cutter wall is magnificent! I have never seen so many wacky cookie cutters in one place! Looking for a cactus or kitten or rainbow cookie cutter? They have it! There's a large and gorgeous demo kitchen classroom in the middle of the store where they host weekly cooking classes and demonstrations. Check online for the latest schedule!

I've struggled a bit to decide on a rating. I think they've earned more of a 3.5, but I just don't feel they quite deserve a 4 star, so I'm rounding down to 3. Orson Gygi is a large kitchen store that leans more toward ingredients, and sweet ones at that (vs, say, Spoons and Spices that is more about the tools). They have a large selection of chocolate and flavored chips (they do also carry some better brands like Guittard and Callebaut), cocoa powder, lots of candies, flavoring oils, sprinkles, syrups, cotton candy floss, etc.

On the non-food side they have dish towels, aprons, some dishes, commercial types of mixing bowls and tools, chocolate molds, TONS of paper plates, napkins, and other disposable serving options, plus they have a whole section of lovely Le Creuset products. They also offer classes and demonstrations. This sounds like my dream sort of store, but there are a couple things that make me like it less than I'd expect. 1)The ingredients they offer aren't necessarily high-quality.

I feel like they lean more toward the old-fashioned end, and a lot of them are full of preservatives and junk, and are just quick options for baking, like mixes, rather than the actual straight ingredients you would use. 2) Prices seem pretty high on most items for the quality they offer. 3) This is just a little inconvenient, but they are located in a sort of weird spot. It's almost right off I-15, but there is nothing else of interest around, so it makes me less likely to visit.

The items I tend to buy are their Callebaut chocolate chips, cocoa powder, wafer paper that I couldn't find anywhere else, and their mushroom popcorn kernels (these are like gigantic popcorn and are actually pretty cool). I do appreciate their large selection, it's just not my favorite kitchen supply store.
