Commercial Industries Company was developed from the Seattle division of Soule' Steel Company in 1967. At the time, Soule' was moving their Seattle operation to their Los Angeles office. Roger Benton, who had been with Soule' since 1956 and was their number one steel building salesman on the West Coast, started Commercial Industries to become the Northwest dealer for Soule's Steel Building Division.
