Atlanta Hardwood Corporation was founded in 1952 as Howard Lumber by James W. Howard, Sr., father of the current chief executive officer, Jim Howard. In the early days, as a lumber broker, the elder Mr. Howard grew his business by selling to furniture manufacturers in eastern Tennessee. In the mid-1950s, the company was moved to Atlanta and began processing Appalachian hardwoods in leased kilns. By 1960, a plant was built in Mableton, Georgia, where the corporate headquarters for Atlanta Hardwood is located today.

I am not sure how a 1 star rating was created from my profile about this company. I was briefly employed for this company and it was a great experience. Although it was not the right place for my career it is a great company.

I really miss these guys. Who knows if they might have stayed in business if they had put their business name somewhere on their website.

Visited Atlanta Hardwood today and what a selection of various wood species they had. The staff was very welcoming from the main office to the crew in the lumber display warehouse. I went specifically for White Ash, Fraxinus americana and they had various sizes and thickest. Staff assisted me in finding a very clean knot free 2x6x10' from which I custom various native wood laminated white canoeing paddle shafts. Pix once I am finish this group. I highly recommend Atlanta Hardwood for various wood needs.

Every time I go to Atlanta Hardwood I find new unique boards and when I check out it is less expensive than I expected. I have a budget and calculate BF before I check out. Most times I contemplate going back to grab more lumber and checking out again! Great place! See you this saturday!
