As you explore our website, you'll find a company that has a rich history dating all the way back to the year 1757. We've been making quality cornmeal products at our mill in Johnston County, North Carolina since before the American Revolution! Since we are a family-owned business, making quality, competitively priced products is not just our job, it's our personal commitment.

We try to put a little bit of family pride into every bag we make. If our products are not the very best products on the market, then they don't deserve the name "Atkinson's" on the bag.
Services
This is stone-ground corn meal. Yes we do grind it slowly on mill stones, ever since 1757! We specialize in grinding our meal fine, as opposed to the roller-ground meal you usually find in the grocery stores. It's a slow process, but it's worth it.
We hear it all the time; Customers tell us that they can make wonderful tasting Hush Puppies with our mix by just spooning the batter into the oil, but they aren't always very pretty to look at. Problem solved: Perfect Hushpuppies every time!
Basically, if you boil it, you will love this Seasoning! Even though it was originally developed to be a special seasoning for making Chicken Pastry (Chicken Dumplings), folks are finding all kinds of foods they like to season with this product.

A great family-owned business with a great product. Our church, Benson UMC of Benson, NC has been doing business with them for years.

Excellent products produced at the site of an old milling operation dating back over 200 years, it is operated by the Wheeler family, some of the nicest people you would ever meet.

The ladies were super nice here. They had lots of different prodcuts. Can see old grist mill because of former flood. Ladies and products make it worthwhile.

Since 1757 this mill has been producing every type of mix from hush puppies to funnel cakes. They have a retail store on site. It's a great place for a picnic or a photo shoot.
