To purchase materials, appointments are not necessary. Masks are encouraged but up to you. The right materials and know-how for your project. Amicus is a new kind of design center and home improvement store. We create fresh spaces--fresh designs, fresh air and water, and a fresh take on what our buildings can do for us. We prioritize both form and function. We work with your budget. And we screen every product for health, environmental integrity, and durability, with a priority on those made as locally as possible.
Services
The word "amicus" means friend in Latin. We believe the name embodies what we represent and strive for--that all of our products, principles, and practices are friendly to you, your building, wallet, future, and planet. Our Mission: To help people live, work, play and pray in sustainable, comfortable, healthy, affordable and responsible buildings.
Amicus Project AAdvantage makes it even easier to complete your project by simplifying the design process and bundling your selections. With special pricing for a great deal. DOWNLOAD our Project AAdvantage Intro & Checklist, then contact us to talk about your project. We are happy to work with your architect, designer, or other existing plans that you may have.
With the new pandemic guidance, if you'd like to make a design or materials consultation visit, we are still requesting appointments so we can manage the number of people in store at a time. To purchase & pick up materials, you can come right in. We still ask that you wear a mask and maintain physical distancing.
Imagine if I asked a builder to build me a yurt. Or, maybe a traditional Japanese home with wagoya construction methods, a genkan, or washitsu. You might imagine his/her response may be something like "I'll need to research the topic, methods, requirements, and processes, then discuss it with my tradesmen, then prepare a proposal for you."

Amicus Green Building has helped us source all of our materials for the third time (since 2008). Working with Jason is usually the only thing in a renovation that goes perfectly. Some material costs are bit higher than they would be from a traditional store, but in many cases they are cheaper and better quality. The selection at Amicus is outstanding and Jason knows everything about every material.

That's really invaluable when you're spending the money on good sized project. It's true, you might have to be flexible with the materials -Jason sometimes can't guarantee that the exact tile or flooring you saw in a magazine is available. Perhaps you can do that at some big chain store. But if you're willing to make some design decisions, you can find almost anything you want from Amicus and build in any kind of style.

The material quality and service really can't be matched. It's absolutely worth using Amicus for any project. For those who care about sustainability, it's really satisfying to finish a beautiful project and feel good about the materials (and the health impact). For those who just want to get a renovation done, this is still the best kind of service and store you can find. In the photos below, all of our flooring, cabinets, tile, counters and carpets came from Amicus.

I love Amicus Green Building. Jason, the owner is super. We remodeled our home and got beautiful new floors and new bathrooms. The quality of the products are amazing and Jason spent a lot of time with us making sure we were happy. This shop is a gem and I couldn't recommend it more highly.

Jason at Amicus is the best! We were looking to paint our house and re-do flooring with no toxic chemicals and vocs. He has done all the work already, narrowing down the best companies in each category, no matter what you want done in your home, and has so much knowledge on everything green, eco-friendly and nontoxic. I only live 20 minutes away, but had never heard or Amicus - I learned of him through the Degree of Green podcast that focuses on healthy homes. Jason can help with anything you need, from as small as a new faucet to as big as an entire home renovation - minus the formaldehyde! I would recommend Amicus 100%

Great selection of green bldg products, though out of the thing I wanted, alas. Super-knowledgeable and helpful staff! Their website is a useful starting place when doing a green bldg or wood work project!

After lots of research, and a helpful conversation with Jason Holstine, I ordered a 10 x 12 Earthweave carpet and pad. I could not be more pleased, and I appreciated the consultation with Mr. Holstine at Amicus Green Building Center. Mr. Holstine was easy to talk to and helpful. I will definitely be a returning customer! Thanks Amicus Green!

Great place for non-toxic paint and green ideas for your house! I have been coming to Amicus Green Building Center for years. I love the flexibility of getting just a few gallons of paint at a time instead of ordering online. They mix the paint while you wait or you can call ahead and pick up at your convenience.

A terrific selection of Green Products. Ruth Crump was able to walk me through the store and take her time to discus the features and benefits of all the products. I'm looking forward to shopping here and sending my clients, so that they can enjoy working with Green experts.
