There were several really fascinating types of wood there and the gentleman that helped me was very patient and kind and answered all my questions! I rarely enjoy shopping but this was a very pleasant experience.

This place is the best for exotic woods! Very knowledgeable staff, always very friendly too!

Good craftsman store with plenty of selection, but MUCH more costly than larger home improvement stores. If the drive to Crescent City were shorter I'd have saved a significant amount making the drive to Home Depot.

This place has the high end building materials and tools for construction and cabinet making. What a great selection of wood for all your woodworking projects!

Called them asked if they had finished red oak Quarter round. They told me they did, I sent my employee down there to find out it's unfinished no problem. So after we stained them, and cut them realized every piece is a different size! What's with that? Tried to call multiple times since Saturday but nothing.

What a fantastic place to visit if you are looking for lumber and specialty woods.for your next project. The selection was great with good prices. Lots of variety to choose from in the specialty area including a selection of reclaimed lumber too. Stop in, it will be worth your time!

Nice place to get wood from. They have different types to choose from and great prices. Staff is friendly. We had to load the lumber in our truck ourselves (which is fine). Good location and lots of parking.

For years this place has been my favorite store to shop for wood working/hardware/anything & everything/lumber/exotic wood. Today the crew there were all friendly & attentive to me & my search for a jointer. After much time & careful consideration I was given a great deal on this 6 porter cable. Thank you Almquist for helping me hobble along on my woodworking journey & for my excellent deal on this quality tool.

The other picture is of my kitchen ceiling which my husband and I finished in 2005 but 1/2 of the ceiling had never been stained-the other half was faded because a drop ceiling had been under that half. So the beams and the ceiling were all there they were just very discolored/mismatched. We took a plank down & brought the board into Almquist and they made THE matching stain for us. Perfectly.

The knots that you see on half of the ceiling in the picture are colored in by hand with black permanent marker by yours truly. That was actually one of our first experiences & we have been coming back ever since.

This is the best lumberyard that I have ever been to. Their selection is outstanding and their staff are knowledgeable. I build a set of kitchen cabinets with a selection of Red Oak hardwood and plywood from this store. I bought a few pieces of red oak from a nearby lumber yard prior to discovering Almquist and it is remarkable the difference in quality of wood. Almquist clearly makes a lot of effort to keep a premium selection of hardwood in their inventory. Even if you're not interested in woodwoorking, take a walk through their store anyway, they have a selection of handmade furniture there that you can't get anywhere else.

As soon as you walk in the woods smells incredible and the people are so friendly! I came here on a Sunday morning around 9am! My neighbor and I were so glad that staff were able to help with a list of items she needed for her studio art class at H.S.U.! Staff was more than willing to cut the various pieces of wood for her and show her different options.

We even had a staff recommend smelling a beautiful purple wood that smelled like sweet and musky notes of cologne/perfume! Staff was very courteous and friendly to the point where they even suggested going to another shop since they didn't have other cheaper options for a staple gun. I am glad this is a spot I had a chance to experience b/c we felt we were supporting a local shop.

The only downfall while at the counter was learning how dragonflies get caught in their building because they fly very high up into the ceiling and get caught up there. Unfortunately their windows are not opened and sadly I forgot to ask if that is even an option.

Definitely a great spot to go for either professional contractors or weekend hobbyists. We picked up some really amazing looking purple hardwood and spent way longer than expected browsing the tools and the wood yard. There is a HUGE selection of everything and it's all good to great quality, no flimsy tools or trashy wood. We were helped by a down to earth guy who actually knew a lot about millling and construction and had experience too. I would recommend this place over anything in the area or even out of the area.

Great place for lumber needs including decorative moldings, if they don't stock it in the store it can be ordered and received in a very short amount of time. The staff is always helpful and cashiers are available for a efficient check out. Plenty of parking available and convenient at the front of the store.

Daniel m. you r an idiot! Stay away from the wood! It's a f*cking lumber yard! And one of the best in the entire country! What do you want?!?! Cordiality, catering, . its not their fault you are too much of an idiot to know the difference in the products you choose. if the people there were educated enough in carpentry they wouldn't be working at a lumber yard. they would be carpenters. why don't you come over to my place and I'll spray paint some dog poop with gold paint and sell it to you as gold nugget! You should be educated enough to know what your purchasing. unbelievable!

John is totally the opposite of a total ass hat! He was so helpful and knowledgeable of his wood! Recommend finding him when you are at Almquist lumber.

Absolutely the best! If you need a tool, any type of lumber for any project from trim to cabinet to built in to picture frame. what ever Pinterest can invent, they can supply. Very reasonable prices even better is great, very helpful service. Great team! Well worth the visit for any project involving wood working.

Amazing lumber selections at fair prices. Santa rosa for example had more expensive prices on their lumber. The Staff all know what they're talking about and if you take the time to listen you may just learn something. I've spent a lot of money there for my furniture making business and I'll continue to do so. There is no better place when I think of a specialty lumber yard.

They also have great local hardwoods. Hands off the madrone. That's mine! They also carry decent general construction lumber too and have many tools and finishing products that you can't find elsewhere locally.

I have not been here for a while but for the serious wood worker this place is paradise. They have knowledgeable friendly staff, professional tools and an amazing variety of lumber. Included is nearly anything you might need to build or repair a wooden boat. One time I dropped in on a boat building class and was able to try out a new electric sander that was outstanding.

I cannot remember the brand but I do recall it was top of the line. The fact that they allowed me to participate in a class that had been going on for months was amazing enough but also accepting me and encouraging may participation was extrordinary. Check them out. You will be amazed. Just remembered the sander brand was Festool--as I said, top of the line tools.

Cool lumber yard and store. At first I was frustrated by the lack of service but once you have spent $5000 there they will start to remember who you are. Amazing selection of moldings, hardwoods, and exotic lumber that you cannot find anywhere else around here. There is also a misconception in the community that their prices are high -- this is not always true and often I have found that they have lower prices than other lumber yards in the area.

I almost didn't bother to check out their hardwood flooring because I figured it would be too expensive -- I was shocked to find out how reasonable the prices were for the Mullican hardwood floors and for the quality of the product, I feel that nothing else can come close. I also highly recommend their Rodda paints -- why use two coats of cheap paints when you could use one coat of a really good paint?

Most people have not heard of this brand, however, I have used it on bare wood and also the deck paint and it if far superior to anything else I have used -- best paint secret I know!
