I purchased a large shed when they had a site in Westminster. On day one, the floor was saggy because they did not use Tongue and Groove Plywood. Within 2 years, the siding started falling off. Within 3 years, the ramp was so rotten I had to build a new one. Now, 6 years later, the roof is leaking so badly that I am going to have to replace plywood before re-shingling the roof. Never again!

Contacted 4-outdoor about installing a 24'x12' shed on my property, they provided a quote, and requested half of the payment up front, not a problem and I paid it. I sent emails once a month requesting updates on when site prep would begin and was told there are a bunch of people in front of me, and they would get to me when they could. so for the next 3 months I waited, and received zero contact by either phone or email saying they could get to my project, or that the building is completed and that they were waiting on good weather.

Finally 4 months after giving them the initial payment, I sent another email seeing if I could get an update. I received an email stating that he was loading up the equipment and was heading over there later that day, however no call and no show. I received a phone call a couple days later apologizing for the delay, and a bunch of excuses. He even stated that he could have gotten to my project over the winter but "just didn't".

I informed him that I'm fine I just don't like to be kept in the dark. He said he will try and get to it that weekend starting with gravel delivered on Friday, finished the conversation with just let me know if something changes. Well no gravel, and no call no show on Saturday or Sunday. This makes a total of 5 months since I signed the contract.

I sent them an email stating that due to non-performance of work I would be forced to cancel the job and get my money back. No call or response to my email. The following week I get a text from my neighbor that they are working on my shed, I get home and its set and in place. He did a great job, building looks good, and site prep was as minimally invasive as possible.

As I was home he showed back up to put the ramp in place. He immediately starts yelling at me, telling me I can't send emails like that, that hes put 21,000 of these units in (if they started in 2003 as the description says, that's more than 3 a day), and he has clearance to work at the white house. I told him simply that all I ask to be kept in the loop and he can make a 2 min phone call to let me know he wasn't going to be there, his response was that he doesn't have time for that.

He continued yelling at my for 10 min and getting in my face, and finished with next time just build it yourself. Overall the actual construction and work is top notch. However the organization needs a middle man to schedule the work and communicate with the customers. So after a total of 5 months I got my shed. I deal with contractors and contracting teams all day long, I have never been talked to as a customer this way, nor talked to my customers this way. I would not recommend this group for future work.

Terrible customer service--we stood around the office during normal posted business hours in hopes of purchasing a playset and the saleswoman did not even acknowledge our presence. No "Hello" or "I'll help you in a minute." Nothing has prices so you have to speak directly to a salesperson, who then ignores you. Wouldn't even make eye contact or respond to my greeting!

Odd sales tactic. The customers she was helping even took notice and kept looking at us awkwardly. We'll take our business elsewhere. I guess they can afford to lose business from people ready to purchase.

While the shed that we now have is very well built, the customer service with this company is terrible! From the very beginning, there was not much help with suggesting advice while deciding what our shed would look like. When the shed was delivered it was a horrible color. Did not match the house at all. The guy delivering it said he would get back to us on what he could do to help.

We had to call every other day and finally two weeks later we got a response. Then come to find out we could have picked a color that would have better matched the house, but the lady who helped us buy it never told us there were more color options than the five or so she had in the store room. It's no surprise that this company makes you pay before the shed is even delivered to your house. They want your money and then are done with you. I highly suggest finding another company if you are looking to purchase a shed!

In June of 2013 we contracted 4Outdoor to do a modular garage at our home. We gave them a deposit which they cashed that day. From the start this company was rude and very unprofessional -. The contract we signed was for the work to begin in June and be completed by August. We waited and waited for the work to start - June turned in July and July turned into August.

After numerous phone calls to the office and owner himself - we unable to get any answers, The owner even threatened us. We fired them - We were unable to get a deposit back - had to hire an attorney - two years laters after a jury trial we were awarded our money -. DONT EVER CONSIDER THIS COMPANY TO DO YOUR WORK. THEY ARE SCAM ARTISTS. Please see Frederick County Circuit Case 10-C-13-004152

They required payment in full up-front for a new hot tub in stock, then didn't deliver it within the 30 days stated on the contract. We made numerous inquiries as to when to expect delivery only to be met with rudeness. It finally arrived nearly 60 days later after we threatened to cancel the job. Our hot tub cover was filthy and looked used.

The crew didn't stick around to ensure it would start up but promised to "be right over" if there were any problems. It wasn't operational, and they never came over to diagnose what was wrong despite our numerous calls and two different promised service calls. Again our phone calls and emails were met with extreme rudeness. They said to take a picture, send it to them and they would order the parts. Instead, we had another vendor properly diagnose the hot tub and we ordered the 2 parts that needed replaced on our "new" hot tub.

They agreed to pay the invoice for the other vendor, but only if we signed a release stating "no further contact". We didn't feel comfortable signing away the warranty on their installation work. When we inquired about that, they said, they only offer a warranty on their shed installations, not hot tubs. So they don't guarantee their work as a licensed contractor. Funny, they made us sign a document all about their warranty. We are still hoping for a resolution, but would not ever recommend their products or services. This was a horrible experience.

Great service till after it was installed.they tore up the common area behind my house and basically told me it was my problem and it was in the contract, which i never found. I found some damage to the shed about a month after the install from the forks of the delivery vehicle, here it is 2 weeks later after i originally emailed them pictures and an explanation and still no service to fix it! I even told them i put in a dispute on the credit card charge, and still nothing.! Getting ready to have them come get and get my money back!

I purchased a hot tub from 4-Outdoor several years ago and was initially quite pleased. Since then, I have called the office a few times for problems with the hot tub (which are covered under warranty) and have received poor customer service and rudeness from the office staff. There is also typically a very long wait time for physical service and repair.

I recommend 4 Outdoors on one condition. I was very happy with my shed and how the site was prepared, except that the onsite boss, Brett Cochran, ran into my well doing $140 in damages. The damage could be disregarded, if repaired as Brett said. After over two months, I couldn't find out why they didn't or wouldn't. I assume Brett decided not to because the contract I signed with 4 Outdoors states: "4-Outdoors is not responsible for property damages during structure placement/moves." A bright spot was their Sales Rep, Jamie Wilson, who was a pleasure to work with.

I would rate 4 Outdoors higher if Brett were as straight forward and good at customer relations as Jamie. If you go with this fine outfit or someone else, I suggest that you do not sign a contract that releases any company, including 4 Outdoors, of damages done by them while on your property. Being responsible for those damages would make them more careful plus save you from paying for their carelessness.
